VETERINARY SURGEONS

WILLIAM SINCLAIR BVMS MRCVS
PARTNER
William Sinclair is our designated dentist,
being enthusiastic about this smelly branch of veterinary practice
that others tend to avoid. As well as being Ivybank Vet Clinic's
most experienced vet (which is a nice way of saying he's been practising
longer than any of the others!) he is our Safety Officer, Fire Officer
and Radiation Protection Supervisor. It's the only way he can order
people about and get away with it. He and Eileen married in 1979
and have two grown-up children. In his spare time he is involved
in the Folk Music scene in Ayrshire, compering at Irvine
Folk Club and occasionally performing at other clubs in the
area.

EILEEN SINCLAIR BVMS MRVCS
PARTNER
Eileen Sinclair took time out from practice
to do the family thing but has been deeply involved in the development
and running of Ivybank since 1986. Her clinical interests include
Internal Medicine and Oncology. She is Practice Manager and used
her organisational skills in 2005-06 to put together an exhibition
of work by artists from all over Scotland marking the 60th Anniversary
of the dropping of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
It was shown in Dalmellington, Cumnock, The Tramway (Glasgow) and
Helensburgh.

ROSIE SORRIE BMVS MRCVS
PARTNER
Rosie Sorrie came to the veterinary profession
from a farming background (turkeys in Aberdeenshire). She worked
part-time at Ivybank for a while then gradually became an indispensable
part of the team. She has been a partner since 2005. Her hobbies
include cooking, gardening and shopping for gadgets. Aberdeenshire
is about 5 minutes ahead of Irvine according to the Earth’s rotation,
so sometimes there’s a mismatch in time zone synchronisation.

 |
ELEANOR LAMONT BVMS MRVCS
ASSISTANT VETERINARY SURGEON
Eleanor Lamont is a Glasgow graduate who has
worked as a locum for Ivybank Veterinary Clinic for several years.
She now joins us as part of the permanent veterinary staff and is
currently based at Irvine and Kilwinning. She plays hockey and also
enjoys singing.

| |
| |
MARIE LEVER BMVS MRCVS
ASSISTANT VETERINARY SURGEON
Marie Lever is a 2008 graduate of Glasgow
Vet School and joined Ivybank Veterinary Clinic in October 2011.
She will be familiar to many Village Vets clients, having worked
with them prior to joining Ivybank. She is based in the Irvine surgery.

| |
|
|
DAN LUTZ BVMS MRVCS
ASSISTANT VETERINARY SURGEON
Dan Lutz is a 2003 Glasgow Vet School graduate
who hails from across the pond. He will be well known to the Village
Vets clients, having been based there for over a year prior to the
merger and will continue to be based at the West Kilbride and Kilwinning
surgeries of the new Ivybank Vets.

LAURA McHARG BMVS MRCVS
ASSISTANT VETERINARY SURGEON
Laura McHarg is an Irvine lass, a 2008 graduate
of Glasgow Vet School, who has an impressive grasp of technology.
She keeps our website (her design) under control, consults, operates
and still stays enthusiastic. An occupational hazard which she succumbed
to within weeks of starting at Ivybank was being adopted by a young
Collie-ish dog. Then Brego had to convince Laura’s family that they
were OK about him. He did: they are. Laura also has an interest
in Deaf communication and has recently gained her British Sign Language
Level 2 qualification. She is primarily based at the Irvine surgery.

 |
ROSEMARY FITZGERALD MVB
CertVR CertVA MFHom(Vet) MRCVS
LOCUM ASSISTANT VETERINARY SURGEON
Rosemary Fitzgerald has been a regular stand-in
locum at Ivybank for some time. Her extra qualifications in Radiology
(X-rays), Anaesthesia, Homeopathy and Veterinary Acupuncture mean
that she's much in demand. But because we're so nice to her when
she's here instead of somewhere else, she seems to enjoy coming
back when we ask. Rosemary is daft about mountains as well as sitting
exams and heads for the hills as often as her work and family commitments
allow her. She has recently become a fully qualified Veterinary
Homeopath and is one of only four in Scotland.

VETERINARY
NURSES
|
 |
SHARON
URQUHART RVN
HEAD NURSE
Our Head Nurse and VN Clinical Coach, Sharon
has been at Ivybank for ages. She went through the VN training when
there was much less paper-work and a bit more hands-on practical
training. But now, as a supervisor and coach of student VNs, she
has a mountain of paperwork to cope with. And everyone behaves themselves
on the days when Sharon locks herself away to sort out Health Insurance
claim forms. In spite of all this she appears to be a very calm
and relaxed person. Sharon is an accomplished horsewoman and competed
at Badminton Grassroots Horse Trials in 2010.

LYNDSEY
CIARCIA RVN
Lyndsey is our exotic nurse! She did a course
to gain further knowledge and qualifications and that means she
is called in to help when you bring an animal to the Clinic which
isn't a dog, a cat or a rabbit. We're talking rats, mice, snakes,
injured wildlife, cage-birds, tortoises. You name it: Lyndsey gets
the call! She also runs our Waist Watchers Clinics, helping to slim
down Ayrshire's pets. Her ambition is to leave Ivybank Veterinary
Clinic in Irvine and set up a branch surgery in Torino, Italia,
which happens to be where her husband Salvatore comes from.
|
| |
 |
CASSIE
INNES RVN
Cassie lives in Lochwinnoch and commutes to
Irvine. You can look at that from both directions: Does she not
want to work where she lives; or does she not want to live where
she works? Cassie has an interest in helping people whose pets have
behavioural problems. She also goes on exciting long holidays to
places like Viet Nam and Thailand.

| ANIMAL
NURSING/CARE ASSISTANTS |
|
MANDY CARSON A.C.A.
Mandy Carson currently works
between all three surgeries assisting with both patient care and
reception duties.
|
| |
|
FIONA MacDONALD A.N.A.
Fiona MacDonald currently
divides her time between the West Kilbride and Kilwinning surgeries.
|
| |
| RECEPTIONISTS |
 |
JANICE MARTIN
Heading up our team of receptionists is Janice.
She's had 2 stints at Ivybank, the first when she was just a wee
lassie, and then a few years later when she started her VN training.
She is a qualified VN but a creaky back keeps her from the heaving
and lifting and leaning, so she does loads of admin and phone-answering,
and other stuff like that. She's very good at organising people
(just ask her husband Donald), but her fiddle-playing daughter is
her equal.
|
| |
 |
SELENA BALLANTYNE
Coming to Ivybank from the textile industry
might have been a shock to Selena but as she and husband Robert
are involved in showing and breeding Bearded Collies the inside
of a veterinary clinic was a familiar place. Officially she's a
receptionist-admin person but she's also the “social secretary”
for the practice, organising staff parties, days out, charity fund-raisers:
any excuse for a bit of a hooly really. Definitely a party animal,
Selena is the only person who regularly runs up the stairs. Her
brown Beardie bitch Bustroc Red Red Rose takes after her, dabbling
in the energetic world of canine agility.

LOUISE THOMSON
Every clinic needs a morning person. They
need to be bright, alert and on-the-ball. Just as well Louise is
all of these things. She types faster than anyone who's ever worked
here and probably faster than anyone has ever seen. And it's accurate.
Wihc si fotruntea. She was stunned recently to be asked to play
a game of hockey (for a team desperate for someone to make up the
numbers). But apparently she doesn't do exercise! Fast typing will
do. And isotonic Irn Bru.
